Growing the SoPac: Progress, Partnerships & What’s Next.
We wanted to give you a short update and recap of the SoPac Trail projects that the steering committee is working on or has completed since the last time we spoke.
This June, we had a Fonroche Off-Grid Solar light purchased and installed near Fisher Rd. and Mockingbird Bridge. This project was made possible through the generous financial support of Friends of the SoPac Trail and the White Rock Neighborhood Association, with invaluable in-kind partnership from Dallas Park and Recreation and The Loop Dallas. The light will enhance safety while preserving the natural beauty of the trail.
Spring on the SoPac
As spring is upon us and summer is around the corner, the Friends steering committee has been busy with projects that beautify the trail, enhance security, and increase enjoyment for all users.
On Saturday, March 21, a group of volunteers led by committee member Randy Elia, Hillside Neighbor, cleaned and painted the pillars at the Northwest Highway underpass. The Dallas Park and Recreation Department previously cleared the area of trash and litter. Special thanks go to Allen Mabry, White Rock Neighbor, and his Geochers group for dedicating their Saturday to this effort.
Coffee Social - Dallas Bicycle Collition
We’re wrapping up the year with something fun! Friends of the SoPac Trail is teaming up with the Dallas Bicycle Coalition for a Coffee Social Ride—because bikes + coffee = the perfect Saturday.

Roots of Gratitude: A Thankful Tree Planting
I’m filled with gratitude for another successful tree-planting event! We were able to plant seven beautiful oaks along the SoPac Trail by Fisher Rd.
SoPac Trail Tree Planting
As a result of your exceptional support during North Texas Giving Day, we’ve been hard at work bringing new improvements to the SoPac Trail! Thanks to the generous contributions, we installed an irrigation system to support the planting of 7 new oak trees.
If you'd like to get involved, join us for the SoPac Trail Tree Planting THIS Saturday at 9:00 AM! It’s a great opportunity for the whole family—bring the kids and make a day of it!
Monarch Migration 🦋
One of our favorite times of the year is coming soon to the SoPac Pollinator Garden. Every year, millions of monarch butterflies travel thousands of miles from their breeding grounds in North America to their wintering sites in Mexico. According to Master Naturalist experts, we anticipate their arrival in the SoPac Pollinator Garden in about a week.
